Hugh Panaro is best known for his iconic portrayal of the Phantom in Broadways The Phantom of the Opera, a role he performed over 2000 times, including in the shows 25th Anniversary production. One of the few actors to be cast by Harold Prince as both The Phantom and Raoul, Hugh continues to captivate audiences as the title role in the immersive Off-Broadway production of Sweeney Todd.
He made his Broadway debut as Marius in the original production of Les Misérables and went on to create leading roles in Side Show, The Red Shoes, and the American premiere of Martin Guerre. Hugh was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award for his performance in Elton Johns Lestat, based on Anne Rices Vampire Chronicles, and made his West End debut in Harold Princes Show Boat as Gaylord Ravenal.
